Refunds
You are charged only for a clip that arrives. A clip that fails costs nothing, and unused credit can be returned.
A clip that fails costs you nothing
If a clip does not arrive — the model times out, the scene cannot be drawn, the render is abandoned — the charge is returned to your balance in full and automatically. There is nothing to ask for and no support ticket to open. This is not a goodwill policy: the charge is written as a separate refund entry against the original one, so it is visible in the account and cannot be quietly forgotten.
It also covers the awkward case. If the rendering machine is killed mid-render it may never get the chance to report a failure, so the debt is settled the next time the account is read — which in practice is the next time you open the site. That is why a balance can correct itself upward when you return.
You are never charged more than the price you confirmed
Every clip is priced and shown to you before it runs, and the price is bound to the brief and the model that produced it. If our cost of making the clip turns out to be higher than estimated, that is our loss, not a surprise on your statement. If it turns out lower, the confirmed price is still what is charged.
“Refunded” means credit back to your balance
This is the part worth reading twice. A refund here returns the credit to your codedclips balance — not to your card. Only Stripe can move money back to a card, and that happens when you ask for it, not automatically. So after a failed clip your balance is whole again and you can immediately try another clip at no cost; if what you actually want is the money back, write to us and see below.
Credit does not expire
Unspent credit stays on the account while the service operates. There is no expiry date and nothing is forfeited for inactivity.
Refunding unused credit
If you have credit you do not expect to spend, you can ask for it to be returned to the card you paid with: write to support@codedclips.com from the address you used at checkout, or include your account id if you have it.
Unused credit is refundable on request, to the original payment method, with no time limit and with the processing fee absorbed rather than deducted. There is deliberately no advertised window: a stated deadline turns a courtesy into something to police, and a pack you have not spent is money we have not earned.
Credit that has already been spent on a clip is not refundable on its own, because the clip was delivered and the cost was incurred. If a clip was delivered but is not what you asked for, the honest thing is to write to us anyway and describe it; a brief that was misread is worth knowing about.
Chargebacks
If you think a charge is wrong, write to us first. A payment dispute freezes the account while it is resolved — that is automatic, and it blocks new clips as well as new credit — and it is almost always slower than asking. The freeze lifts by itself if the dispute is resolved in our favour, and the credit is restored with it.
What is not refundable
Credit spent on clips that were delivered. Recordings are also charged for storage as they age; that meter is small, it is shown on the account, and it is not itemised as a separate charge to refund.
A refund of an unspent pack returns what you paid, less any credit you have already spent. The extra credit a larger pack carries is a bulk discount rather than money and is never part of a refund: the $20 pack credits $24 and the $50 pack credits $65, but the most either can return is the $20 or the $50 that was charged to the card.
